Question #6

What did you do for Easter growing up? What traditions did you establish into adulthood?

We usually had a Easter basket that we would have to search for in the morning and sometimes we would search for hard boiled eggs in the house or back yard at Byron's.
We have done the same with our kids but have tried to add some remembrance of the resurrection also. It is different each year.
Also, Sid is a really good basket hider so our kids expect to spend a long time looking for their baskets and if they find them easily I think they feel a little jipped (at least the two oldest).

My mom used to make it a scavenger hunt to find the Easter baskets, which were often hidden in the dryer and other weird places. We would wake up with a note that would give a clue to the next note, etc. until we found the basket. It was very creative of her and fun! I don't celebrate Easter anymore, just enjoy some of the chocolate associated with it. ;-)

My childhood traditions were the same as Nicole's. As an adult, I don't usually do much since I don't have kids around. However, I always have a week off of work around Easter time and have established a tradition of travelling during that week. Not very "Easter-ish" but I sure enjoy it. :)

Easter was great. Chocolate, marshmellow bunnies, jelly beans, and then when the stomach sugar was so high that a serious counter attack was needed, the hard boiled egg.
We would color eggs, the baskets were hidden but maybe we were too impatient for the chocolat fix so they weren't too hard to find after one time of whining that Marilyn found hers and I didn't.
We now have a calm day, focus on what life means and enjoy the peace of mind that comes with that.

I never really looked forward to Easter or ever really thought I liked it, but I do actually have a few fond memories of Easter.

There were a few years when I was young that my extended family would color Easter eggs together and then have an Easter egg hunt on Easter in our brand new Easter outfits in my grandparent's (Ve's and Sonja's) backyard.

One of the most fun Easter's was when I was seven. My dad's entire family rented a house boat on Lake Powell. We had more people than were allowed on the boat, so we had to sneak everybody on. That was a good laugh. We colored Easter eggs on the boat and the parents hid them around the redcliff mountains in small crevises, under cacti, and burried in the red sand. That trip is one of my all time favorite childhood memories. Easter isn't so bad afterall.

Easter was always my favorite Holiday! The church bells had left for Rome when Christ was crucified and returned on Easter morning at 12:01 when all the Catholic Churches in town would start ringing their bells to announce Jesus's resurrection. As the bells were traveling back to the churches, they would drop treats and little toys in all the children's bedrooms, under the beds, in the drawers... It was so fun to look for and find all the treats!!! I used to drive my sisters crazy when we were just little because I coud keep my chocolate for months and they would eat theirs right away. They always begged me for some, but I always waited until it was almost too stale to eat it. How things have changed!!!!
