Almost 70 years ago Clyda and Veon were married. That union is why we are all here. This blog is created to capture our thoughts and help us get to know each other better. There will be a new question posted each Sunday until December. Please use contributors first names only. If you are posting anonymously please add your first name to the text. Enjoy!
Attention everyone...Marilyn has a WEB PAGE !! You can check it out at www.marilynsmithartist.com!
Nicole, please publish the following disclaimer in a prominent place:
I hesitated to make long narratives with these posts, but Nicole said she might put the whole blog thing into a book form someday, and I could use this as a forum for writing for my kids and grandkids. I can’t pass up an opportunity like that. So rather than bore you, feel free to skip anything you’re not interested in or don’t want to be bothered to read. Sonja
Note from Nicole:
I am happy to do this for anybody that is interested. I am enjoying hearing from each of you and would love to hear from more. Thanks Sonja for taking the time to work on this and giving us an opportunity to get to know you better.

My first car was a white Renault Encore. It was very dependable. . . I could always count on it having some type of mechanical problem every weekend. (You'll notice they don't make them anymore. There's a reason for that!)

I got my first car, a 1991 ( I think) white sedan, Mazda 929. I knew I was getting something big for Christmas that I had been wishing for for some time. My uncle, Chris (Suzeanne's Chris) asked me what I thought I was getting. I replied a guitar because I really wanted one. Sure enough, I got a guitar. So, I was really surprised when I opened the box that held my key and the manual for my car which was sitting in the garage with a big green bow! I didn't realize I was that spoiled! It's nice from time to time.

First car was a 1954 Dodge Pickup truck that a neihbor sold me for $150. When I spun a bearing on the engine, thought I would repair it and found it harder to get parts, more expensive than I wanted, etc., I beat the truck to death and took it to the scrap yard.
When I married my husband he had an old model A Ford.
My first personal car was after Veon died and I bought that old Buick.

I didn’t get my first car until after I got my first real job after graduate school (when I was 50). I had been looking for something practical and dependable for my commute. Then I saw a shiny black Chrysler Le Baron convertible all blinged out with gold wheels and gold trim and I fell in love with it! And I bought it on the spot and drove it home, because I could. (I learned to drive on my dad’s 1949 Chevy stick shift). Sonja
