Almost 70 years ago Clyda and Veon were married. That union is why we are all here. This blog is created to capture our thoughts and help us get to know each other better. There will be a new question posted each Sunday until December. Please use contributors first names only. If you are posting anonymously please add your first name to the text. Enjoy!
Attention everyone...Marilyn has a WEB PAGE !! You can check it out at www.marilynsmithartist.com!
Nicole, please publish the following disclaimer in a prominent place:
I hesitated to make long narratives with these posts, but Nicole said she might put the whole blog thing into a book form someday, and I could use this as a forum for writing for my kids and grandkids. I can’t pass up an opportunity like that. So rather than bore you, feel free to skip anything you’re not interested in or don’t want to be bothered to read. Sonja
Note from Nicole:
I am happy to do this for anybody that is interested. I am enjoying hearing from each of you and would love to hear from more. Thanks Sonja for taking the time to work on this and giving us an opportunity to get to know you better.

Besides dust, I can't say I have a real collection of anything. Some coins, and if tools count, then I collect them. Once in a while they may even get used.
I try to collect or gain positive experiences or memories. Nadia has even taught me how to make what could be thought of as a negative experience, be a good experience.
Evan, are you talking about making a specific bad experience a good one, or has Nadia taught you how to generally change your outlook of bad experiences?
As for collections: I used to collect dolls, but since we didn't have much money they were not collectors items, really, just cheap stuff. But mother loved dolls and got me interested in them too. She used to make cloth dolls - each of my girls got one from her. (I think Jennifer still has hers). My last Christmas at home, before I got married, mother bought a big doll from DI and made a pretty, frilly organdy dress and slip for it. I loved it. I can't remember anything else I ever got - except for the "twin" rubber dolls I got when I was very young. One was pink, the other was chocolate brown. (That's why I put quotes around "twin"). Sonja
I collect little serious-looking pigs, old glass opium bottles, and anything SMALL. Beads are good for small places. I have a lot of really old beads used in slave trading. Then, there are probably a lot of other stuff as the old rules states"three of anything is the beginning of a collection" Marilyn
If Marilyn is right then I collect kids. I don't collect too much because we have a small house but someday when we are more settled I would like to have a collection of classic movies and soundtracks.
Behind my house was a big open gravel field, and thanks to Great-grandma (Clyda), I used to collect pretty rocks or rocks of interesting shapes from the field. I always loved the jewelry grandma gave me. I also collected sea shells because my mom and dad brought home for me seashells from Texas, Hawaii, California, etc.

Sonja - In answer to question:
I am talking generally. Take any negative moment and look for the positive learnings from it.
Such as learning to see the positive aspects of an opera.....
I collect paper-weights and rocks. If I could collect anything, it would be more sunshine I guess. Anything in nature, I like.
Clyda
I like to collect refrigerator magnets from the places I go to, and I have a bunch of ducks in various forms that people have given me. Other than that, I don't really collect anything.

OH! Post cards. I try to get a post card every where I travel. I have several from Vegas.
