Almost 70 years ago Clyda and Veon were married. That union is why we are all here. This blog is created to capture our thoughts and help us get to know each other better. There will be a new question posted each Sunday until December. Please use contributors first names only. If you are posting anonymously please add your first name to the text. Enjoy!
Attention everyone...Marilyn has a WEB PAGE !! You can check it out at www.marilynsmithartist.com!
Nicole, please publish the following disclaimer in a prominent place:
I hesitated to make long narratives with these posts, but Nicole said she might put the whole blog thing into a book form someday, and I could use this as a forum for writing for my kids and grandkids. I can’t pass up an opportunity like that. So rather than bore you, feel free to skip anything you’re not interested in or don’t want to be bothered to read. Sonja
Note from Nicole:
I am happy to do this for anybody that is interested. I am enjoying hearing from each of you and would love to hear from more. Thanks Sonja for taking the time to work on this and giving us an opportunity to get to know you better.

Not really. I had quite a few cousins but after I was 16, we moved to town and I never did see any of them much.

All of my cousins are awesome, but Alicia would have to be my favorite. She's fun, caring, creative, and very tolerant when I forget to return her emails. :) (By the way, Alicia . . . I think I owe you an email!)
Daphne
Mother only had one brother, who lived somewhere in Arkansas, I think. We never got to meet him or his family. But Daddy had 9 siblings, each of whom had a very large family. I have a plethora of cousins! Would be hard to pick a favorite at this point. But growing up I was closest to Toni. The only real trouble I ever got into was always with her. Once we were playing in our unfinished basement where Mother had a few things stored. There was one of those big round mirrors that went to an old fashioned dresser with two drawrs on each side of a dressing table. The mirror was standing free on the floor. I was looking behind it and lost my grip when the weight of it fell forward. It crashed with a huge shatter and bang. Toni's sister, JoNell and my sister, Asenath were tending us at the time. I was afraid of getting in trouble, though I wouldn't have, really, and I asked Toni to take the blame, then, then I'd take the blame for her at her house, if needed. She agreed. When our sisters came down and asked "Who broke the mirror?" Toni said "Sonja did, but I'm taking the blame."
I love all my cousins but ALICIA takes the prize! We used to go to movies and spend nights up late taking about movies or whatever. I love her because she would hangout with me even though I am few years younger. She was also a good example to me by being kind to Grandma when I was in the midst of being an ungrateful teenager. I don't talk to her much now but I love to hear about what exciting adventures she is chasing and how she is doing. I also used to do a lot with the Marchant cousins and Leilani, Carry and I were always doing something fun. I still talk to Leilani once in a while but I don't think I have talked to Carry since he was the DJ at our wedding.
I don't get to see my cousins very often so it's too hard to pick a favorite. Probably Daphne and Nicole because I know them the best and they're always fun. Alicia's my favorite sister though so she can win the grand prize here!
